0ld is g0ld?!
It
was a chilly winter morning. Unable to bear the tickles of the coldwinds which were making their way inside my bedroom through the window pane , though hesitant , finally made me awake. Still in bed dozing,
various thoughts began to flash in my memory ,some good , some equally
depressing. I started to schedule the day in my mind, the end result
was which was pretty exhaustive. So restricting my thoughts there
itself I hasten myself for a hot cup of tea. Sipping tea and standing
in the window ,my eyes were just gazing through the pane the scenic
beauty which looked fresh and beautiful
, perhaps which was the only factor that could ease me from my tensions
to a certain extent. My searching sight finally rested a t a bench ,
where five –six “oldies” were having a comfortable talk and hearty
laughs and appeared to be visibly content and satisfied. This group of
“oldies “( as I would prefer to call them) do make a regular appearance
at this bench everyday after a warming morning walk to make themselves
at ease before they could disperse at their respective homes. How
wonderful and tension free life it must be ! I exclaimed to myself and
suddenly I started to imagine myself at that bench as one of the oldies!! Is
the old age really a golden period?? What a tension free life it must
be ! No worries , no hectic schedules to follow. No scolding’s , no
bossing and commanding, no tension about what might happen tomorrow .
No promises to keep not to get engaged in any difficult task to please
anyone! A total protocol free life . Majorly , nothing much to achieve
and no deadlines to meet!! How wonderful and relaxing it must be…. Quickly my hyper mind started to scan as what might be their ideal schedule be ? and within no time I had it ready too!!! Ideally
a day would began at 6 in the morning followed by tea/coffee/milk then
morning walk with a group and newspaper in one hand. Then , gathering
at a probably fixed place and then engrossing themselves in the
discussions of current topics related to politics , government
issues(other than politics) , gossips , grapevines, cricket and very rarely bollywood. Registering themselves into a laughter club or meditation camp ! All praises for their grandchildren how smart she/he is
and a heap of applauds for how much their son/daughter has achieved and
probably how much is he/sheearning per m0nth… Celebrating success of their grandchildren and
birthdays of their own at a morning meet !! Getting back home at about
8-9 am.Then hurrying
themselves to bring back home their grandchildren from a nearby nursery
( if they are too small) and then spending time with them discussing
some “childy” tales . Then having a peaceful nap in the afternoon ,
after a series of their favorite T.V. shows . Again in the afternoon
going for a walk followed by pretty light but comfortable dinner and a
satisfied but a tiring sleep at around 10 P.M. Isn''t it just a ideal
schedule that almost majority of us might desire to have !! Wow ! I
exclaimed to myself. But suddenly I was brought to reality by my father
who shrugged my shoulders to make me aware that I was getting late …. I
hurried myself then, but I did realized one very important thing. There
is nothing such as any “Golden period” or a “Totally peaceful period”
as we might sometime imagine of. Every phase of life do have its own
pros and cons. Even
at an old age there might be many issues the “oldies” might be silently
tackling with and perhaps at that time there is no one to listen to
them. Their health concerns are also a major issue. Perhaps many of
them might be dealing with their inner loneliness they might be
experiencing because of their missing dear partner !! No
phase is Golden , you have to make it one !!! and for that /one has to
sow seeds from today. Live for the moment and don’t spoil the day about
thinking as what might happen tomorrow! Do and give your best today .
Everyday comes with an opportunity so grab it. Every phase of life has its series of happiness and concerns so face it boldly and move ahead. Remember the other side of the grass field is always greener……so do I need to say anything more???
"They say old is Gold,
and new is Silver, but
remember Old is wiser and
new is just a beginner.."!!

The s0ng(Lyrics nd vide0) :
U2 - Pride (In The Name Of Love)
One man come in the name of love
One man come and go
One come he to justify
One man to overthrow
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
One man caught on a barbed wire fence
One man he resist
One man washed on an empty beach.
One man betrayed with a kiss
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
(nobody like you...)
Early morning, April 4
Shot rings out in the Memphis sky
Free at last, they took your life
They could not take your pride
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love
In the name of love
What more in the name of love...
